T2 is significantly harder than T1, and at first seems insane, but is doable with good coordination and quick reactions from all involved.
Before going in, you need to be geared well, and to know your class well. It’s wise also to familiarize yourself with T1. The insane jump in difficulty means not a lot of knowledge can be transferred between them, but every little helps.
Gear needs to be targeted towards survivability above anything else. With some mobs having random aggro anyone's a target so you need to have at least 8k morale unbuffed, you might have to sacrifice a fair amount of will/agi/might to achieve this, but you'll be much better off for it. With buffs this should take you around 10k and go a long way to stop you from dying the second you enter the arena.
The pattern is generally the same as T1, you have to hold out for 10 minutes against several waves of mobs. There are regularly scheduled waves that spawn once the first four mobs get killed, and at every two minute mark for the next 10 minutes. However unlike T1 killing the wave doesn’t result in a nice break of combat where you can relax and grab a snack. Instead, killing more than 70% of the mobs results in an extra wave of mobs spawning. Unless you’re trying for the challenge (in which you have to kill a total of 100 mobs, you need to ensure that three or four mobs from each wave stays alive, with only a small amount of morale so they can be dispatched quickly once the next wave spawns.
So, generally the mobs are the same as in T1, just each with a handful of additional features to pile on the challenge. The mobs are as follows;
Summoner –These are the biggest priority, and must be killed immediately. They drop a fire puddle on the first person they, so it's imperative that that is a tank, and that that tank is on their own as they're the only one who can survive for a more than a few seconds in the puddle. My guard with fully capped mits will only take around 900 damage each tick, but it adds up, so even they need to get out of the puddle fast. And the puddles stack and there can be up to 4 summoners in a wave so there can be an obscene amount of damage available. They also summon cats, which can be a pain.
Captain –These drop healing puddles around mobs. Mobs need to be brought out of them as fast as possible as they heal fast and hard. They’re of the same size as the ones in T1 (huge) and can often cover a huge area so the Cappies need to go fast before too many can spawn.
Archers – These are unaggroable and will fire off arrows at random into the group. When targeted, an eye will appear over your head. You can try to save yourself by fleeing, or hiding behind a tree, but it’s probably best to just brace yourself. The damage they inflict is proportional to how long they’re been . As soon as they spawn, they hit hard, not before long they can one-shot most people.
Warrior – These mobs have a powerful frontal AOE so if you value your life, you need to stay behind them. Like the archers, their damage stacks up over time, but all of it will hoefully be aimed only at the tanks who should be able to handle it. At the momen’t they’re bugged, so they don’t face you so, as a tank you can pull them somewhere, then step behind them and they’ll merrily hack away at thin air while you stand behind them and laugh.
Berserker - These mobs only show up on T2, and are an army on their own. They have random aggro, and march around the field slicing away at will. They don't spawn with the main wave, instead appearing at random, if you see one, call it out as if gone unnoticed it can clear out half the group. They are incredibly strong, and their unaggroable nature means they have to be dealt with the second they appear.
Summoner's cats - These have a fairly powerful frontal aoe that applies a bleed to their target, they're only truly dangerous when en masse, so can be dealt with at a leisurely pace.
Each wave will feature between 7 - 10 mobs, of the four main enemy classes. Because of the nature of the randomness, tactics are hard to put in place ahead and has to be done on the fly.
The potential mob combinations are as follows;
• 4 Captains, 3 Warriors
• 2 Captains, 4 Summoners, 1 Warrior
• 1 Captain, 1 Summoner, 5 Warriors
• 6 Archers, 4 Warriors
• 6 Archers, 2 Captains, 2 Summoners
• 2 Archers, 2 Captains, 2 Summoners, 2 Warriors
• 2 Archers, 4 Summoners, 2 Warriors
With Summoners being responsible for the fire puddles they must always be dealt with first, followed by the captains so they can’t heal, followed by the Archers, then Warriors.
In order to prevent a second wave from spawning three of the mobs need to be left alive. This should usually be warriors, but when there aren’t three available Archers are best. Followed by captains. Cats and Berserkers don’t count as part of the wave, so should be dead before the next wave spawns.
For the challenge, 100 mobs need to be killed in the 10 minutes, this means you’d have to kill the first wave in one minute, so you can kill the second in the second minute and continue like that. I think it's best to save that kind of madness for when we're all pro at it, and just try to keep some mobs alive.
Team Makeup should be
2 x Tank (one warden at least ideally)
2 x Healers
2 x Cappies
1 x LM
5 x DPS of a nice mix
So as a walkthrough, It currently seems Ideal to do as follows
The first bit is the same as T, one of each of the first four mobs will be standing in a line across the ford, one tank should go in and aggro them, everyone should run around the fire puddle under their feet to kill the summoner, then the captain, then the Archer, then the cats and the warrior. During the last few thousand morale of the warrior everyone should start getting into position for the wave proper. As soon as the last of these mobs is down, the timer will start, the horn will sound and the nightmare will begin.
The main tank (warden) will be out well ahead with the rest of the group gathered far back, away from potential puddles. The cappies will take it in turns to apply Spirit of the Dunedain upon the tank to protect them from all the death that’s about to pour down upon them. The tank will then taunt the mobs , any that slip through will be picked up the second tank. Everyone will then then head to the river so things can be dispatched quickly. Summoners need to go down instantly before they can drop more puddles, for if they drop at this point, anyone who manages to escape the second puddle will be so spread out that they won’t live for long.
The mobs should all then be killed in the order specified earlier, with people keeping their eyes out for any sneaky berserkers. When there are only three mobs left, and/or time is running low everyone should head back to their starting positions ready for the next wave.
As soon as the next wave spawns, ranged DPS should kill the three remaining mobs before killing the rest.
This will then be repeated until the fifth wave. As the raid is based on time rather than mobs killed, if things are going awry the mobs can just be kited until the time runs out at which point any dead people can now enter the field to help kill the remaining mobs.
The chest can then be looted, and all the Tarnished Symbols of the Elder King that are sure to drop can be acquired.
